“Stay with the truck!”

Reality check! Evolution part 2 gazillion

It’s silly how obvious something feels when you focus back to what your primary goals are. Sidetracks are good, they give perspective and usually add to the creative process, but don't always work in your favor.

Discussion: Should we keep doing the monthly horoscopes (MoHo’s) or not?

Pros: it’s great content for social networking, it keeps our creative juices flowing, it’s fun, we learn a lot about the signs and their relative foodie habits

Cons: does anybody care, it’s time consuming and it's distracting us from finishing the book!

Eva’s Sagittarian ascendant bluntly-honest-brain-to-mouth connection blurted out a statement the other night while we were trying to watch football. In reality were staring at the football game, but both of use were distracted and feeling guilty once again about not writing. The MoHo's were due and the book chapter revisions hadn't stayed on track. Creative avoidance is a mystery. If we don’t put ourselves in a place of isolation for a prolonged period of time (longer than a cup of coffee), then we can’t seem to get into the zone. And then our co-dependent party starts and we distract each other even more! What’s up with that?

Oh, sorry, I digress… Eva’s proclamation… “Let’s stop writing the monthly horoscopes… nobody’s reading them!” First of all, my apologies to those of you who are reading them, we appreciate your support. It would be nice to hear from you once in a while, but that’s ok too.

My first reaction to The Proclamation was wincing in ego-slashing pain. The MoHo’s were kind of my idea to provide valuable content for social networking and make some money so we could keep moving forward with all the projects. Only a handful of people actually subscribed and paid (thank you) so we decided to make them free and I stopped spending all the graphic art time designing that beautiful two-page spread. Posting them as a blog is much easier, but we still had to devote the 10-14 hours needed to write them… not to mention all of the time devoted to creative avoidance… all of which is time away from the priority of writing the book, which makes this whole process of creative avoidance… cleverly disguised as…. Creativity!

The New Plan:
As my brother is fond of saying in his work environment, “Stay with the truck!” We’re going to stay with the truck and write the damn book!

(One last ‘to do’ on the MoHo’s; we will [finally] issue a proposal to Spirit Magazine (Southwest’s in flight mag)… we think it’s a perfect fit for their audience and it ties in nicely to their consistent promotion of all things foodie and healthy connected to their flight cities.)

Then we regroup and get real, again… starting with treating the social media scene as it was meant to be used… transparent babbling of things important to us in the niche of this project, which hopefully for you, our stars, will be interesting enough to hang out with us and get yummy Sun Sign specific recipes, fun foodie facts, and lots of humor in our reality. Here we go…
